  1. Yes. I believe a regular on here believes in them, but I haven't seen her lately.
  2. Yes, there are. Some of them are frequent contributors to this board. .
  3. There is a user called Slaveof12Gods that does. She is very smart and nice too.
  4. Yes, there are, and they are often severely persecuted in Greece. There are groups that are opposing the mistreatment of Hellenic Polytheists in Greece, and reclaiming temples. I pray they are strong.
  5. No
  6. Yes. You'll find a number of links here: http://www.ecauldron.com/recongreek.php
  7. FYI, Latin languages translated Zeus as "Deus" in Portuguese. "Dios" in Spanish. "Deo" in Latin, and so on... They just didn't know what to call the Bible God!
  8. Most religions and religious leaders come and go. Only the true religion stays the test of time. Read the bible.
  9. There are people potty enough to believe in the Jewish God, so probably.
  10. IDOL WORSHIP IS MEANINGLESS
  11. there are people who celebrate festival of diety mithra (25th december) who celebrate festival of goddess Ishtar (easter) who celebrate festival of sun god (sunday) Guess who are they??
  12. Generally anyone who reads the philosophers such as Aristotle, and Plato, believe in them at least as they are examples of human and divine characteristics, archetypes,, even if they are not "Gods". even Aesop uses them [Greek and Roman Gods] that way. Others have already mentioned, some, are those who have a faith in them as though they are a literal reality. I agree with the philosophers... Hermes is viewed as a Prophet of God like Moses, Zoroaster, Jesus, Adam, Abraham, Buddha, Krishna, Baha'u'llah etc., in the Baha'i Faith [Tablet of Wisdom], and in the Quran/Islam, Hermes is called Idris. God bless.
  13. I'm a Theistic Satanist, and the gods I worship go back to Ancient Sumeria, which was thousands of years before Ancient Egypt-- the Greeks and Egyptians BOTH said their gods were older and came from elsewhere, and research leads me to believe that they are simply another version of the Sumerian gods. So anyhow...Yes, I believe they might exist, but I think they're a lot older than Greek culture. Hope that makes sense. :)
  14. wow ruth is an idiot. Presa C- I'd rather worship the figure of a man, then worship that fetid little symbol you carry around your neck. that sick worship of an innocent man being murdered before a cheering crowd. I'd spit on you if I could. The old gods are indeed alive and well. The old ways are engraved in our blood, our heritage, who we are. The hellenic's, the egyptian revivialism (sorry guys I dont know your name), and the Asatru are the old ways coming back. Polytheism has a brand new bag. These three groups are outside normal Paganism. We base everything on what was and we try to piece together what we can no longer find. I know in my own faith, Asatru, we are a rather modern aimed religion. Unfortunately we have yet to unifty under one banner for fear of the christian debauchery that is the catholic church. (no offense you guys, its just we dont want the same rep.) These faiths are not a matter of belief, they are a way of life. They survived the christian extermination of the old ways known as the medival times, and they will always survive. Even if you erase all traces of them away, The northmen and most europeans are still the children of Odin, and Tyr, and Thor, and Frey. In the Us Government itself you find the mark of the high one. Womens rights. A council of free men to decide upon the truth. Property rights. Judgment based on merit. None of these Ideas are new. Although they where erased from history but for a small contingent of documents. They survive. The fact that these ideas where developed before the coming of christ is evident. The fact that 1000 years before the US was formed, women had rights. Is still true to this day. The American expansion on this idea is only going the same way it would have taken anyways.
  15. I think some pagans do, they consider them to be Archetypes.
  16. There's a regular here who believes in them, she's called Hestia's priestess. I'll mail her the link, she's the best person to tell you about hellenic polytheism.
  17. I have been spotty in my attendance on the section due to very serious medical issues with my mother, but Yes there are people who still worship the Undying Gods of Greece. I myself am one of those people. The religion I practice is best described as Hellenic Reconstructionist Polytheism. You can find out more about what those of us who follow the Ancient Gods believe through the following links. http://www.hellenion.org -- this is a US-Based religious organization that honors them with local "congregations" in various parts of the country. http://www.neokoroi.org as well as the Hellenion_Chat Yahoo!Group (I do have links to a lot more resources on my home computer, but as I am on a borrowed machine, I have to give you the ones I can type strictly from memory.... ) If you have any other questions I will also be forwarding this question to another Neokoroi member who is also on this section occasionally and asking him to forward you links to additional materials
  18. Yes. Me. I am a Hellenic Polytheist. I believe in all the greek gods and goddesses. :)

I hope that I' ve helped you a little
