  1. probably not that many if any
  2. I do, I sacrifice virgins to him every year.
  3. I am Greek and as far as I know. NO. People use 2 worship the Greek gods over 2000 yrs ago but since Christianity they don't.But it makes as much sense as worshiping one god.I guess there was just 2 many gods
  4. i don't think so the religion of the old greeks its now just mythology...by the way if u find poseidon interesting why ur nickname is neptunekh?(neptune is the roman god of the sea) lol
  5. Why shouldn't?? There's no doubt, People have right to worship whatever they want? ? Whatever, not even the Gods from Greek Myth, some people worship Sun & Moon, even some worship a tree alone, also?? I don't think they worship them because of they have lower level of IQ than ours. or whatever.!
  6. Who knows. But i guess there are people still must cause they just made another movie named after him. =0P
  7. As a sailor I would have to say yes, although as many have already pointed out, these days it may be rare. Mariners, in general are more likely to believe more so in such things, due to the fact that they see the world from a very different perspective than regular people. It is true to say that many thing seen and experienced at sea may seem unexplainable by the laws of nature as seen by a shore perspective. It should also be noted that it is a falacy to believe that the belief in the Old Gods vanished with the inception of Christianity. It was forced underground in many cases, but never eradicated, this I know for a fact as one who follows the the Old Gods, and the Old Ways. One should also remember that belief is a very personal thing, no one can tell anyone else what to believe, or whom to believe in. To do so is disrespectful and arrogant, there are many paths to the destination, not just one road. Just remember that it is the journey that is important, one will not get to the end if they do not remember that which got them there.
  8. Oh, my gosh! I thought there were more Pagans on this site. Most of the gods are still worshipped and many of them are of the Greek pantheon. Poseidon, being the sea god, is very much thought of and involked.
  9. i worship Ronald Mcdonalds
  10. In Paganism, you would find worshipers of Poseidon. Modern Pagans worship whichever Lord and/or Lady with whom they feel the most connection. I myself am connected to Bastet, the Egyptian cat goddess, hence my name. I am one of Bastet's kittens. Paganism incorporates many pantheons (groups of gods and goddesses). Norse traditions involve Odin, Thor, Freya, Loki, etc. Greco-Roman traditions involve Aphrodite, Venus, Ares, Mars, Poseidon, Neptune, Zeus, Jupiter, and so on (I listed the Greek deities with their Roman counterparts). Egyptian traditions involve Isis, Osiris, Ra, Horus, Bastet, Anubis, etc. Many people even worship obscure gods and goddesses that no one has heard of in a thousand years.
  11. There are many Pagan religions (the original religions) that still worship many of the gods and goddeses. Unfortunately Christianity began its evil rule and millions were killed for their faith in other gods.. The most recent christianity-hated book and movie, of course is The Da Vinci Code which traces the beginnings of christianity back to the pagan days and shows (with some truth) that there are still some pagan worshipping christians today. I highly reccommend it and it's prequell Angels and Demons. If nothing else it gives you some room to ponder other possibilities rather than the Virgin Birth, etc.
  12. Yeah, some do; especially those who tend to live "on the water" so to speak. I don't know about worship like the people used to, but whenever seas get rough, they know who did it.
  13. its possible many sects of ancient religions still exist... ae: the jews still worship yahweh
  14. [BTW, cool you like Sailor Neptune, I always favored Saturn, she always dealt wup-butt well] As for Poseidon, I'm sure there are some neo-earth religions that include him in their dealings. Certainly anyone living by the sea will be incorporating him into their workings. I know too that captains of boats will often do things to appease the ancient sea god. Offerings thrown overboard during rough seas and such. Whether its treated as superstition or belief, it mostly equals the same thing.
  15. I'm pretty sure there are people out there who worship the old man with the trident; we just don't know it yet. If the Dogon (worshippers of the star Sirius) were recently discovered in the 20th century, how much more a Poseidon faction? But evidence of Poseidon worship can be found in Italy; just ask the folks who make Maserati cars =) LOL Check out the design on the Maserati hood cowls just to see what I mean LOL =D
  16. Actually there are Greeks that still worship the Gods of the old religion( including Poseidon!)! Check the following sites!
  17. I'm not sure but some cultures still pay homage to the sea. The Venetians in particular still do. Their Doge used to perform a ritual of marrying the city to the ocean by tossing in a wedding ring.
  18. Why not? I worship at the Church of the Sub-Genius
  19. I'll have to contact my cousin in Atlantis. It might take awhile though.
  20. yes people do still worship poseiden! wiccans or pagans all have the choice as to which god or godesses they identify with. like catholics have patron saints, pagans can havepatron gods. also when casting spells or praying for something specific it is common to beseech whatever god rules over that particular thing. so if yu have someone that is overseas it might be a good idea to call upon poseiden!
  21. Not greek people, that's for sure. Some American losers that want to revive antiquity (most of them self-appointed Wiccans) like to worship ancient deities, and the greek ones are the best-know ones. So yes, some weirdoes still do! No-one has the courage to make sacrifices, though. You can be sure of that. I DO find him cute, however, and would very much like to taste him. (:P)
  22. Poseidon is my favorite Greek god, and Neptune is my favorite planet. My insignia I sign documents with is even the trident. But I hope no one actually worships Poseidon now, he was often cruel and barbaric, in some ways as bad as Ares when he wanted to be. I worship only one God, the god of Abraham and Isaac. P.S. (I really like sailor Neptune too, she's my favorite after Sailor Moon herself, followed by mercury, lol.)
  23. crazy people do
  24. i am not sure but i find that pretty cool too
