- we still feel very strongly about family ; we introduce like all normal people (hello, this is....); u should never turn an open palm towards somebody (it's bad, bad, bad,bad...); there is really not a greek etiquette (behave like u would in your own country : order politely, eat with a fork, don't spit,...etc. u should however known that in greek restaurants they tend to bring everything to the table from the beginning) ; most greeks are not on time but being too late isn't acceptable. HUFFFFF!
- I do not know the answer to all your questions, but I know that being late is usually acceptable for Greeks. I studied with a few of them and it was "Greek time" and "The other's time". It is part of the charm!
- We are attached to the familuy as generally all mediterranean countries. We are never on time, and yes, we are used to express ourselves with the hands. Many times, we are misunderstood, and considered people with lack of education, but it is our way to express our selves in a very alive way...
- 1- We love and respect our family (parents and relatives)and even if we have differences, when someone from outside of family offends us, we unite and support each other 2-it is polite to introduce the person you are with when someone else comes. we don't have a special way to do so!it only takes 3 sec to say his / her name to the others :) 3-never never never open your palm (showing the inside part of your palm - with fingers wide open) to a person! it is an awful thing to do! it is like telling him "you are worthless" 4-as for dining tips, never start eating before the host! moreover, when it is time to drink (yeah during dinner we do that) lift your glass to air and say "stin ygeia mas" it is like "cheers" 5-no people are usually a little bit late! well sometimes it is traffic jam that is responsible for the delay, bus didn't come on time, or sometimes it is just an accident that happened, etc! but we don't like people being late! no! better be on time! you ll probable have to wait (we have some problems with appointments!) but it is the right thing to do! I hope I helped! Regrds from Greece!
- 1.We love our family and we are very strong connected with our family. Even we are far away from our familied we are always in touch and we are able to leave everything behind and "run" to "serve" our fathers and mothers 2.There isn't any certain way to introduce someone. You say his/her name and that's all. If you want to introduce somebody in Greek you just say: "Apo edo o/i .......(and the name)...."--> this is .....(name)... 3.You should never open your palm towards another one, because that means that you think that the other is an idiot so don't try to do sth like this.. Also avoid put the middle finger of your hands up...that means "f&*k you"... 4. There aren't any dining tips or so...just be polite... 5. Most people aren't on time and that is acceptable, so everyone can be late! Of course this doesn't exist in business, in companies, in meetings and so on......
