- Hekate was the goddess of Magic, witchcraft, the night, moon, ghosts and necromancy. She is usually depicted on Greek vases as a woman holding twin torches.
- these factors; magic, people are divided in many aspects and each good took more than one aspect of things/emotions etc. your question would require years of study sweetheart!
- Different gods were for different role's, There may well have been one specifically for Magic (possibly one of the muses?). However, for people, gods were like patron saints, you might pick one that was appropriate for your trade (the Persian God Mithras being popular for the Roman army), or if there was one that applied to a particular to your problem (Nemesis for justice/revenge- if you felt you had been wronged. Or Venus/Aphrodite if you were seeking help in love). Or you might just feel one particular god may have a soft spot for you since you were born on his feast day (like current day saint's days) and so were named in his honour (like being named Patrick because you were born on st. Patricks day!). You'd probably though, worship several gods on their feast days throughout the year or at special occasions where their help would be advantageous.
- Many of them had magical powers. Circe was able to turn men into beasts. Hecate was the goddess of magic arts. Zeus could change himself into animals. There are numerous references of the "god" doing things, that could be called magical.
