when is the best time to travel to greece?
I'm looking for the best value--low price travel as well as a time in which i can enjoy the trip. I don't want to travel at a time when the weather is too bad to see things and do things. I would also like to know about some must sees/gos from both an archaelogical standpoint and a modern culture standpoint.

- Fall and Winter
- I would suggest spring/fall it becomes VERY hot during the summer, and unless you like that type of weather you need to go on an off season. luckily summer is also the tourist season, so any other time of the year you should find good deals. good luck and have fun its beautiful!
- april may maybe late march, when its not cold and before the horrible summer. i've been there in summer and winter both not as great as when i went in spring, but really anytime is okay.
- u can go to southwestern airlines.com and there's this thing that informs u about deals to ur location. but if u don't c are about the deals i suggest spring or summer.
- I have been to Greece twice, and I can honestly say that the worst possible time to go is in the Summer. Their weather is HORRIBLE then (this includes the end of May through early September.) I enjoyed my weather the most when I went in April. I think this is a good month, although you may have rain occasionally (although this is normal there.)
- I wouldn't got to Greece even if you paid me. If you go make sure that you don't touch the artifacts or they'll throw you in Jail. Don't stand under an awning in the rain or the shopkeeper is likely to hit you. And don't go to Rhodes because they don't like tourists.
- Not sure but maybe take a tour ... http://tours.ricksteves.com/tours06/product.cfm/rurl/code/GRE06/
- Pricewise April or October (risk of rain); Wise May or September (no rain and not too hot) June might do well.. Avoid July & August because of prices anf temperatures.. Enjoy Greece.. its worth staying every month of the year..
- In my opinion summer is the best period to visit greece. everything is going hot :). you must go to see acropolis and the sunset in santorini. very good nightlife very good beaches and very possible to find your match.by natural beauty it can be said that greece is one of the most beautiful lands in the world.there is a variety of prices but in some cases quality doesnt correspond on what you expect.Be ware of cheaters and you will have the best holidays!. Note: taxi lowest fare in athens is 2.5 euros and the fare is written in a machine under the radio. Happy holidays
- September or even November
- the best time to travel to greece is at the end of august and the beginning of september where the weather is still warm and the prices are low,you will probably arrive with plane to athens ,so you must go and see acropolils and parthenon and you will find alot of things gifts and anything you want to monastiraki, wherever you will go there are archeological sites just chose your destination and have a good time, you also can see some pics of my town,by the way i am from greece !
- Early June or September. Nice weather
- I went in August--but that's the "family" time of travel so I had to step on a TON of small children. I just carried a stick pin around with me and popped their balloons---the one's that were english speaking, I'd sneak up behind and say "I KILLED SANTA". Oh wait, that was Disney World. Yeah, August. Good month.
- Every time is great for visiting the land of heroes! If you like swimming and not many tourists and kids, September is a fine period! Hot and dry! Prices a little lower than August.
- Around Greek orthodox Easter (it's one week after the catholic Easter). At that time you'll be able to visit big cities like Athens or Thessaloniki without being annoyed by the horrible traffic, because most of the people will be outside the cities celebrating easter plus the weather is not so hot at that time. Have a nice trip.
- Best time to travel to Greece is in the spring or fall. Nice weather not to hot and not to cold. Just don't go in the winter. I was over in Greece in the winter for the first time last year. Many of the older homes don't have enough heating units and boy, do you feel the cold going through your body. In Feb. it dropped down to -10C in Athens. Winter is Not a good time of year to travel to Greece.
- the best time for any travel is when you can afford to take the time without worry about spending too much or missing a duty or work elsewhere. If you must worry, do not go.
- when u have money !!
- All the time is the best time to visit Greece. But you should visit there on 30th of February. When there is 'Hotels Day' on that day they give free service and you can get the rooms 70% cheaper.
- i think winter because it is not so exciting when roaming around there so hot ...... you would not enjoy so much because of the hot climate of Greece...... Greece has a hot climate......
- Call a travel agent and ask. I'm sure they'd know.
- You can visit Greece all the year.Besides the classical, summer tourism, archeology etc. it is very nice coming in Greece in winter time.Greece has a lot of high mountains and it's perfect for skiing. There is a great development in very nice hotels and resorts on mountains. For example, a great place is Parnassos mountain (its beauty is outstanding) and it is very close to Delfi. Whenever you decide to travel in Greece you are going to have a great time there, it is going to be unforgettable, remember this! Have a great time in Greece!
- Early June is the cheapest. I was there for about 3 weeks last year and it was amazing. If you are there for a short period say 1 week... Do only the islands may be 2 - 3 Santorini, Paros, Naxos.Crete alone would take 1 week.If you going to the peloponese make sure you go to Monemvasia for a day or 2.. Its beautiful. Go to lonelyplanet.com and post a query. They are really very helpful and knowledgable.
