i need to know basic answers like when was it discovered , who discovered it, basic tourist attractions.... etc...

1. There is nothing to discover. Athens is a city that has been there continuously and lived in for 3000 years at least. All the archaeology is right in front of you. You can visit the classical Acropolis, the theatre of Dionysus, the Byzantine churches, and the neoclassical buildings. You can see astonishing museums, exhibitions, etc.
2. Google it my dear. Do not expect a dissertation within these limits that can do justice to Athens. There are 104.000.000 entries in Google on Athens. The number is accurate. Trust me.
3. the oldest town in the world that still exists.. take a look on the net...
