- try BBC website. That does sound hard. Why not make a list with her about the stuff she's learned on Greece and use that as a starting point. The teacher won't necessarilly be looking for rhyme, but interesting vocab is good to include if she knoes some. Most teachers would give a poem guide sheet where the child only has to fill in ends of lines etc for this age group so just do your best together! - Archimedes, the well known truth-seeker, Jumping out of his bath, cried "Eureka!" He ran half a mile, Wearing only a smile, And became the very first streaker.
- Try looking up the ancient Greek gods and godesses - there are hundreds of stories about them and I'm sure your daughter can write a poem from that. Wikipedia (online encyclopedia) is a great place to get info like that.
- Who gave the world the light of knowledge? Who gave the world the games of Olympia? Who gave us Homer and the golden fleece? Who else, but eternal and glorious Greece!
- how about a poem, about the greek gods,
- greece greece where would we be without greece? our machines would grind to a halt our chips would be at fault. greece greece we love you.
- Why not get Troy out on DVD or video and let her write a poem on what she thinks of that? It's easier than reading than Homer's Odyssey
- Generally the topic is covered in school prior to the assignment. So what did she learn of Greece, and it's history. Put a list of what she has learned down on paper and put together a poem about it. If the topic was not covered get a book from the library on Greece and look through it together, and write a short poem about what you saw. Here is a site on ancient Greece.
- An acrostic poem? Sounds tough!
