  1. I'm not going to type it out all here, but I'll direct you to information that will serve you well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classical_Rome Now go kick that debaters ars.e... figuratively speaking of course.
  2. Rome was the conqueror. All roads led to Rome. Rome shaped civilization. Rome trumped Greece five times over. Julius Caesar is a good example, especially if you want to throw in Shakespeare a say a bit about how, without Rome and Caesar, how could William have written a play on the ruler? And Gladiator. Where would we be without Gladiator?
  3. I would say ancient Rome contributed more towards government, construction, and the art of war, but ancient greece contributed more towards philosophy, sports, art, metalworking, and sciences. Consider Archimedes, Sophocles, Homer, and Thespius. Also consider that the people of today are many times more interested in entertainment than their government (even though it should be vice versa). A good debate will always have prepared answers for the opposite sides points.
  4. The answer in this question can take a book. I believe that Greece contributed more to the world then and now. The roman civilization was based on the greek civilization before it. If you compare the achievements in science, politics, arts and more you will see that the greek civilization achieved more. Search to see that even the ancient Romans admitted that they conquered Greece by force and Greece conquered them by civilization. Something more, the Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantium) turned Greek in language and culture. PS. Rome is more interesting for Americans because of the similarities of ancient Rome and the USA today but Rome did not came up with: Democracy, the Olympic games and other sports, Theater and Comedies, Epics ( Homer ), History (Herodotus - Thucydides), Philosophy ( Plat on-Socrates ), Sculptures, Architecture and more. We invented all that and the Romans followed or just copied.
