A ancient history question (greece/rome)?
What did Rome add to the democracy that Greece started?

- You have been deceived. The history books lie. The roman rule by senate was started more than 700 BC before 462 BC when Athenian democracy was conceived. *********** ****************** People who edit Wikipedia think that 500 BC is earlier than 700 BC. - Good plumbing! Other than that... totalitarianism, rights for only a few elite, and segregationist treatment of conquered nations. Though the Romans did not add slavery - I believe that the Greeks had slavery as well. For instance, my architecture professor once said that the Roman amphitheater was the McDonalds and WalMart of ancient culture. It was a symbol of imperialist Rome in other cultures, and an attempt to force foreign cultures to comply with Roman standards. Built everywhere to the same dimensions and specifications, and instantly recognizable. The Romans homogenized and enforced their culture on all of their conquered nations. This was an interesting question. Thanks!
