Ireland or Greece?
My parents have given me permission to attend on of YFU (Youth For Understanding)'s summer programs. I've done extensive research on all of their summer programs and have narrowed it down between 4weeks in Castle Maine, Ireland and 6weeks in Athens, Greece. My question is which would be the better place to go? I have always wanted to see both Greece and Ireland and can't seem to decide between the two. Any suggestions? - Greece - its not quite as easy as touring/learning about Ireland on your own without knowing the language, so Greece now, Ireland for a summer on your own.
- Go to Ireland. America may have streets lined with gold, but Ireland has streets lined with beer bottles.
- Greece, its a beautifull country.
- I LOVE IRELAND =D
- Think of the historic aspect of Athens; it would be overwhelming. But at the same time, I hear the city is dangerous. I'd research the safety factors of tourists for both areas and make my decision on that.
- Athens has been plagued this year by forest fires, might not be the best time to go. I spend 2 months in England and LOVED it. Therefore my vote is for Ireland!
- Greece mostly because of its extensive history
- Greece in high summer can be killingly hot - you should take that into account. Either way I expect you will have a fantastic time!
- If you go to Ireland you'll be near the most scenic areas of the country. Athens isn't the nicest city, but the historical parts are amazing, needless to say, and you'll probably be able to go around to other historical sites outside Athens as well. And it will be very hot in Greece, and probably pleasantly warm in Ireland. So it depends on what you want to get out of it really. In the future you can always go back to whatever one you don't pick this time.
