greek food ........? i once went to greece in the mid 90's, and ate at a local taverna regularly. i ate the same dish for my starter everytime, it was magic. it consisted of bacon mushrooms cheese and garlic what is this dish called , i just cannot remember ?????? NO I DOESNT SOUND LIKE THE FIRST 3 ANSWERS................ I THINK IT SOUNDED LIKE ( MEZZY ONASIS ) ??????????? WOULD THAT BE RIGHT ???? Greek food!! Am i gonna like it?? Me and my boyfriend have booked our summer holiday and are off to the Greek island of Skiathos is June! Trouble is im not sure what is going to be on offer to eat!! I love food but i am quite fussy when it comes to things being clean! Here in England i will only eat in places that i know have a good level of hygeine im a bit worried that the Greek may have a slighty more layed back approach in their kitchens. Greek Food Recipe? I ate Greek food for the firs time and I really liked it. There was a souvlak chicken, tzaziki, pita, rice and potatoes. authentic greek food in the philadelphia-camden, nj area? Hello, I'm from Camden, NJ, which is about five minutes from philadelphia. I was wondering if anyone knew any good restaurants or places to get greek food, more than just gyros. This is her version and it doesn't make that much sense to me. If anyone knows the correct way to make it or the exact directions....please let me know. Sarah's version upside down (Macluba-arabic) cut chicken into pieces and bake in oven season with salt pepper sazzon and complete seasoning fry potatoes, carrots, eggplant, and califlower let 2/3 cups of rice soak in hot water for 30 min. fry vermaccelli with butter and pour over raw rice season rice with salt, complete seasoning, sazzon, maggi(chicken flavor), all spice, and very little curry put cooked chicked and fried veggies on the bottom of pot then rice over it fill pot with water until rice is cooked.
Is there anywhere in the Philly area to get good Greek food? I lived in Chicago for 9 years and you can get any kind of food you want and it is all good!! The only thing Philly has as their claim to fame is the damn cheese steak. Ok, it is a good sandwich, but I need variety and more than just a sandwich!! Greek, Mexican, etc.

does anyone know of anywhere to get greek food by mail order, i am looking for authentic greek gyros.? i used to live in chicago and was very used to eating gyros daily, i moved out of state and the only places to get gyros here are a long drive and they dont taste nearly as good as what i was used too. if anyone knows of any company that offers gyros by mail order or frozen gyros pre packaged i would appreciate it. when i lived there i could go to the grocery stores and there was a company that had kits to make gyros in the frozen food section. please help me because i crave them daily. thank you all for any help on this.
anyone know what this Majorcan or greek food is? I had once in Majorca but i think it might be greek. It's used as a dipping sauce for bread & it looks like houmos but is not. It has alot of olive oil, garlic. ( could it have been a disguised houmos!!?) hmmm..... it didn't have cucumbers ,I think taramasalater has them! Thank you guys, i think Tahini & Baba Ganoush sound about right. it had a more liquid consistency than houmos. I'll check them out thank you. Thank you so much Vegon, I ddn't tatse any potatoes in it but will give it a try, might be that.
